Terms of Service

These terms are an agreement between you and Automonie. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them. Please read them, particularly the sections on what Automonie is not, and on savings plans.
1. The service
Automonie is a personal finance management tool. It helps you record and categorise transactions, set budgets and goals, track bills and debts, automate savings, and view insights about your money. It is available on the web and on Android.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 18 years old and provide accurate registration details.
- You are responsible for keeping your password, PIN and device secure, and for activity that happens under your account.
- Enable two-step verification and app lock where available.
- Tell us immediately at tobe@automonie.com if you suspect unauthorised access.
- One person, one account. Don't share your account with others.
3. What Automonie is not
This section matters, so we've kept it plain:
- Automonie is not a bank and does not take deposits in its own right.
- We do not provide financial, investment, tax or legal advice. Insights, scores, forecasts and suggestions in the app are informational only, generated from the data available to us. They are not a recommendation to take any particular financial action. Decisions about your money are yours.
- Banking, payment and investment services are provided by licensed third-party partners, and are subject to those partners' own terms.
- Automated categorisation and imported data can contain errors — always check anything important against your bank's own records, which take precedence.
4. Linked bank accounts
Linking a bank account is optional. If you link one, you authorise us and our open-banking provider to retrieve transaction and account information on your behalf, on a read-only basis. We cannot move money from a linked account. You may disconnect at any time from the app, which stops further retrieval immediately.
5. Wallet and payments
- Wallet funding, withdrawals and bill payments are processed by licensed payment partners.
- You are responsible for the accuracy of payment details you enter, including account numbers and amounts.
- Transactions may fail, be delayed or be reversed by a partner, a bank or a biller. Where a payment fails, funds are returned to your wallet.
- Partner or network fees may apply and will be shown or described before you confirm, where practicable.
- You may not use Automonie for money laundering, fraud, terrorist financing or any unlawful purpose.
6. Savings goals and locked plans
You can lock a savings goal until a chosen date. Where a locked plan offers a return, the applicable rate and any early-withdrawal charge are shown in the app at the time you create the plan.
Any return is variable and depends on the performance of the underlying product provided by our partner. Rates are not guaranteed and may change. Breaking a locked plan before its maturity date may reduce or forfeit any accrued return and may incur a charge, as disclosed in the app.
7. Acceptable use
Don't: attempt to break, probe or overload the service; access another user's account; scrape or reverse-engineer the app; upload malicious files; or use the service to break the law.
8. Availability
We work to keep Automonie available and accurate, but we provide it "as is". We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free service. We may change, suspend or discontinue features, and will give reasonable notice of significant changes where we can.
9. Fees
Core features are currently free. If we introduce paid plans, the price and what it includes will be shown clearly before you are charged, and you will not be charged without your agreement.
10. Your content
Your financial data remains yours. You grant us only the permission needed to operate the service for you — to store, process and display your data back to you. We do not sell it. See our Privacy Policy.
11. Intellectual property
The Automonie name, logo, software and design are owned by us. These terms don't transfer any of that to you.
12. Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time from the app. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, is used unlawfully, or poses a risk to other users or to us.
13. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Automonie is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss arising from decisions you take based on information in the app, from errors in imported or categorised data, or from failures of third-party banking or payment partners. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top will change, and we will notify you of material changes in the app or by email. Continuing to use Automonie after a change means you accept the updated terms.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the Nigerian courts have jurisdiction over any dispute.
